James was brought up in a small middle-class multicultural family, the son of a self-made, hardworking Zimbabwean father from (Masvingo), a town close to the historic “Great Zimbabwe ruins” and an English mother from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

“The culture of travel has always been deep-rooted in our family from as far back as I can remember. From small “son’s & dads” fishing trips that filled our joyful weekends, to weeklong holidays enjoying various parts of majestic Africa.“??

Although James appreciates comfortable travel, he is not blinded by 5-star luxuries. It is that indefinable quality that makes something special which he is always on the lookout for, those small details that elevate a travel experience from the ordinary to the unforgettable. After graduating from Hotel school, James went on to study for an (HND) in marketing management in Zimbabwe and later embarked on an MBA with the Nottingham Trend University (UK). He has worked as a sales & Marketing manager for reputable companies like the African Sun Group of Hotels in (Johannesburg), the Cresta Group of Hotels (Africa), The Crowne Plaza brand in (Zimbabwe) as well as the world renowned award wining Spier Hotel in (Stellenbosch,South Africa). James founded Akeibo travel in 2012, and while the early months were not easy, focus and determination as well as exceptional recommendations from satisfied clients worldwide, has helped keep their little personalised business going strong.

Irene Rizzin
Non Executive Director

Irene grew up in a small family in Northern Italy. Her parents owned and managed various luxury Hotels and restaurants set in the beautiful resort mountains of Colfosco Italy.

Here she witnessed first-hand how people can gain enormously from a unique travel experience. She watched her parents design and improve the different milestones of an exquisite guests experience.

This experience piqued her interest in how quality service delivery and attention to detail are strongly linked and how, if done well, can offer travelers a sense of place and belonging, Irene Graduated with a Masters in Mozaic Artistry from the Prestigiouse Italian Spilimbergo Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.

Irene’s says her interest in culture, people and places is a life long learning experience.

She speaks fluent Italian, English and German. She joined Akeibo in 2012 as an Operations Director and played a key role in its founding.

Fiammetta Rizzin
Country Manager Italy

Fiammetta grew up in the small town of Brussa, Northern Italy. After completing her education Fiammetta immediately embarked on a career in Tourism.

Humble beginnings as a waitress working long hours lapping up as much knowledge as she could, she worked her way up to Hosting and later managing operations in small restaurants in the City.

She grew up visiting and traveling in and out of the local touristic cities of Udine, Trieste, Pordenone and Venice.

Fiammetta joined Akeibo Travel in November 2014.

“What I love the most about my job is taking our clients to experience the real Northern Italy, to watch someone from Africa or Asia come to our Italy, role-up their sleeves; work the land, eat and drinking with real local Italian folk in the small villages relatively obscured from much of Europe is an experience even I find breathtaking each time I do it. I don’t know, I just love what I do I guess”.

Shuvai Madanhire
Country Manager UK

Shuvai was raised in Zimbabwe and moved to the United Kingdom in her teens. As a child growing up in Zimbabwe, Shuvai travelled extensively around Southern Africa.

Shuvai’s travel experiences fuelled her passion for Hospitality and Tourism. She studied Hospitality and Tourism Management and after graduating from University, Shuvai returned to Zimbabwe and worked in Victoria Falls where she developed a great insight into the product offerings in Zambia, Botswana and in some areas in Namibia.

Shuvai returned to the United Kingdom and worked for Hilton Worldwide. She still maintains a strong passion for Africa. She has recently joined Akeibo travel managing their UK office in Warwickshire.
